Starting fresh, on the precipice of a new adventure, a chance to begin again.

So may memes, so many well intentioned posts, inspirational what-have-you blurbs.

So much energy was poured out over the past few days by people thinking on how best to proclaim their welcome of the new year and it’s attendant revelry. My wife and I went to a party last night with all the little people, but we ended up leaving early due to tired kids and social awkwardness (I’m not good at parties). So home by 10:00, the navigator was out cold by then, and the rest of us tried to play cards. But then my wife and I greeted the new year by watching a bible movie called The Red Tent and gently eased our way into 2019. No fuss no muss. No real push at all, just taking a moment to acknowledge the changing of the clock, and then off to bed. The chaos of social media, of our ever on world, set aside for a moment rather than engaged in pointlessly.

It’s depressing. It really is. How many of us take this time of year to re-think, re-center, restart? You’re likely not reading this on January 1st, as there are 364 other days in the year that you could be reading it on as well. Why not take that day, this day, and do your stuff.

I have been quiet on this platform for a while now, I really have. Not for lack of something to say but for choosing other activities…
