Microsoft Windows Woes

*Rant Ahead. I am typing this on my phone. Gah!

I work for a living, usually using the laptop in the picture above.

Windows decided to push a system update while I was out for an hour with the kids at the library at noon. I have been home for an hour at this point, progress on the update went from 62 to 78%.

One Hour. 16%.

I am busy.I needed these two hours. Writing or Accounting, but I needed these two hours.

Without notice or anything, (ok I will admit to squashing most system notices since they are a direct result of my actions and just the O/S asking “are you sure?”) Windows got tired of waiting for me to instigate and like an impatient child went ahead and started without my consent.

This will have lost me at least an hour of work from this morning, maybe more if the databases hadn’t finished synchronizing. Plus the time now that I can’t work.

Maddening I tell you! Maddening!

Where will somebody more talented than I script an O/S the replace the windows hedgemony and our software suppliers (accounting and tax and corporate working papers) get onboard with the need for cross platform or platform independent system support. They are starting with Software as a Service.

Cloud based systems ar coming along but the security makes many tax and accounting clients nervous to say the least. Oh well. This is a rant and has triggered more thoughts than anything else, so I guess it’s time to get back to work.

Oh, wait.

I can’t. My system is only at 85%.

Damn you to a programmed infinite loop of hell Windows!
