On Inspiration and Productivity
A brief introspective look into the reality of these two, and the conjunction of the same.
I tried to attend a Webinar today. Shaunta held one entitled “ “Inspiration Exercise Workshop” but let’s see if I can go find the post linking to it from Shaunta… Nope. Can’t find it.
Anyhow, I’ve run through these workshops (this one in particular, as an exercise rather than an in-person Zoom Meeting) a few times.
The gist of it is to use your inspiration to find a list, then after that point, get to work, honing your inspiration to get a working project in place, hopefully to become more than a dreamer, to become a finisher.
Now, there’s a replay, and I’ve sat through it, because I don’t have anything else to do at 2 am when my daughter wakes me to play with her and promptly falls asleep on me again.
But to return to the point I was hoping to make here, inspiration is a spark, while productivity is the slow burning flame.
I have lots and lots and lots of inspiration, as evidenced by the multitude of starts on my hard-drive, the uncountable number of beginnings. Hell, even here on Medium, where it only takes a few moments to push out a rough draft of a story, getting something finished even in it’s first draft is challenging for some of us. I have more than a few dozen…
