Rainy Days
Parenting in inclement weather — a poem
It was a dark and stormy day,
I can’t send the kids to play
Outside in the torrents of rain,
And thus it’s indoor games again.
Parenting’s never a chore
And rarely is it a bore
But days when the rain does pour
It takes just a little more.
Creative is not my strength,
And going the extra length,
To keep young minds engaged
Oh to be that precious age.
One day they will restrain
Their impetus and feign
And soon their minds will reign
O’er all of life’s refrain.
But for this precious day
Rain keeps the sun at bay,
And so inside they stay
With little ones I’ll play.
