Solo a writer’s Journey
So I’m a father. Truthfully, anybody that has read anything that I have posted for any length of time had to have picked up on that part.
I am trying to lead into the point I was after making, I’m sitting down with the not so happy little baby girl the other night because she decided to wake up at midnight. Thus, with nothing better to watch, and everything else on Netflix having already been consumed in previous nocturnal movie binges, Solo stumbled into my feed.
Now the story itself is about what you’d expect from a filler story. The premise of the story was solid,there was enough there to build an arc out of, somewhat.
What really got to me wasn’t the younger version of anybody in the show… I can grok those changes. People change, hell at seventeen and twenty I was attractive, and now.. well a hundred pounds of muscle and fat, two decades of bad decisions and fatherhood, it changes a guy. So the reach from Alden Ehrenreich to Harrison Ford as Han Solo isn’t hard to make at all. But that ship he won/stole/borrowed…. That’s a different story.
I first watched Star wars on VHS. My original version of Star Wars included only the second three movies, numbers Four Five and Six. My first exposure to the Millennium Falcon is as it is seen here.
It was amazing, I was blown away. The first time they swung wide around the ship in a pan shot, and then the jump to hyperspace, that’s the stuff little boys imaginations feed on. I was smitten. This roguish element could have a ship like that and…
