We all do dumb things, daily, hourly. Sometimes in my past, I’ve even spent time making things take longer than they really should just to book the time and get paid.

Those days are gone. I am self-employed, with two side gigs and a volunteer position that takes upwards of 30 hours a month. This is on top of, or after my primary occupations of husband and father to five amazing young-uns, six if you count the one who grew up too fast already. I don’t have time to waste.

So aside from my toddlers, what gets me up in the morning?

Sunrise? Alarm clock? Career?

Nah…

I get up because I can’t not get up, I need to follow my calling.

I volunteer as treasurer at a foodbank. Now, as a Catholic, re-affirmed after a LONG period of straying from the church, one of my guiding tenets is to make sure people are fed and clothed, provided with the dignity they deserve as members of God’s people. Now, I’m not…
